For us, design is first and foremost about creating great looking, safe, seaworthy yachts that are a delight to sail, easy to handle and a pleasure to be aboard. Gunfleet designer Tony Castro has an impressive history of designing championship racers and Round the World race boats, and his innovative design has earned him four ‘Boat of the Year’ Awards, including one for the Gunfleet 58. This vast experience has been fully exploited in the Gunfleet range.
Their twin rudders grip the water well, giving finger-light and precise control in just about all conditions. This means minimal loads on the autopilot – but also makes helming a Gunfleet a very special experience
Gunfleet yachts have been designed from the outset with the great cruising advantage of shoal draft centreboard keels, opening up many cruising grounds throughout the world that would not normally be accessible to performance sailing yachts.
Their external ballast keels maintain stability and give good grip on the water when manoeuvering with the board raised. The board pivots up hydraulically, stowing in the keel, and therefore does not affect the accommodation. Push the ‘Board Down’ button and the yachts have phenomenal up-wind performance.

The build starts with detailed consultations between the yacht’s owner and the Gunfleet Project Manager, discussing all aspects of the yacht – rig, layout, finish and equipment – to ensure that the end result is perfectly matched to the yacht’s intended use.
A moulding team of perfectionists, plus Finite Element Analysis of Gunfleets' composite construction designs by SP-High Modulus ensures laminates of immense strength and structural integrity.
Not just laminating, but also the engineering, advances electrical systems and superb joinery and cosmetic finishing are all combined with innovative design.
