EARLY 2018 UPDATE – a strong start to the year for Windboats/Gunfleet

We have had a strong start to 2018 with the sales of two more Gunfleet 58s.  One to Swiss buyers for world cruising and the other to UK customers who will base her initially in the Eastern Med.

Test sailing the latest 58 launch, NO TIES, had a major influence on both buyers.  The Gunfleet’s blend of blistering boatspeed, her impeccable handling courtesy of her perfectly balanced hull and twin rudders, and her outstanding deck/cockpit/helm design all need to be experienced to be appreciated.  In the cold, blustery weather NO TIES cockpit enclosure had a big impact on comfort, and certainly assures her owner will be well protected from the elements when she begins her South Pacific cruising.

Below decks, NO TIES classic teak joinery contrasted with white bulkheads, gives a rich look to her interior and shows off the fantastic skills of our woodworking team.

We will be launching the next Gunfleet 58 in April, and exhibiting her at the London On-Water Show – May 10 to 12. She 58 has a more contemporary look – her American oak joinery has the grain running horizontally, a wide planked look to the bulkheads and all with a subtle grey tint in the varnish.  Planked walnut floors and very careful fabric choices will complete her modern style.  Her dark charcoal grey hull looks stunning.

The London On-Water Show takes place in St Katharine Docks, by Tower Bridge – please contact us for complimentary tickets on sales@gunfleetmarine.com if you would like to attend.

In addition to recent Gunfleet orders, our 32’ to 65’ Hardy motor yacht range has been selling well.  We currently have three under contract and are confident that the spring will bring along further business.

It was with great sadness that we heard of Oyster’s financial problems.  At Windboats we fitted out almost 300 Oysters, so we know the Oyster Wroxham crew well, and are pleased to have been able to welcome several ex-Oyster workforce to the our team.  Inevitably, we have had approaches from owners of part-built Oysters who may need assistance in getting their yachts completed and commissioned, and we are on standby to complete their yachts if required.

New build orders and the potential Oyster work mean that we have just one Gunfleet build slot available for a 2019 delivery, so if you want to be on the water in a new yacht next season, there is only a small window during which to achieve this – thereafter delivery time moves on to 2020.

The Windboats/Gunfleet/Hardy organization remains in private family ownership, conservatively run on a low overhead basis, and is one of remarkable longevity in the yachting business.  We look forward to celebrating Windboats’ centenary in 2020 and have plans for steady expansion of both the yacht ranges we offer, and our build facilities, over the next few years.
